Eco Packaging Alliance

At its core Born on the Bay is driven by an infatuation with the natural world and with that comes the responsibility to protect Mother Nature the best we can. That is why we are proud to support the Eco-Packaging Alliance. It our way of contributing to global reforestation, and ensure we are promoting eco-friendly packaging! For every order we make, our supplier plants trees in Ontario.
Tissue Paper - The FSC or Forest Stewardship Council certifies that the paper products that make up our printed tissue paper are sourced from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly and sustainably. Our tissue is made from cellulose fiber where the active acid pulp is eliminated during processing. It is also lignin- and sulfur-free, meaning that our ink won’t transfer from the tissue and the paper won’t leave behind any of these chemicals when decomposing. Soy inks are an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based inks, made from soybeans, a renewable resource. Soy inks have low levels of VOCs, reducing air pollution during the drying process.
Compostable Mailer - Made from a combination of PBAT, a bio based polymer which is compostable, and PLA which is made up of plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw. Our use of PLA makes up barely 0.05% of the annual global corn crop, making it an incredibly low-impact resource
